Laurie Hernandez Returns to Competition as Gymnastics Returns to the National Stage

Gymnastics returns to the national stage after almost a year, as the USA Gymnastics’ 2021 event season kicks off this weekend in Indianapolis. The 2021 Winter Cup will take place without spectators and in conjunction with the Nastia Liukin Cup and the Elite Team Cup, Feb. 26-28 at the Indiana Convention Center. This competition weekend marks the start of the international competition season, which includes the Tokyo Olympic Games and Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, as well as the return to competition for Olympian Laurie Hernandez.

For the first time, the Winter Cup competition will include junior and senior women’s divisions in addition to the men’s competition. This competition will help to determine the 2021 U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams, and participating athletes will have a chance to qualify for the U.S. Championships, June 3-6 in Fort Worth, Texas.
