Qualification Series for Nastia Liukin Cup kicks off 2021 Women’s Program Events

This past weekend marked the first official qualifying event for the Nastia Liukin Cup 2021 series. With 18 Junior and 18 Senior gymnasts able to compete in the Nastia Liukin Cup each year, the competition has always been fierce.  This year the Nastia Liukin Cup will be held in conjunction with the Winter Cup and Elite Team Cup - making for one exciting and gymnastics packed weekend in Indianapolis.

Universities have been cutting men’s gymnastics from collegiate athletics as a result of the economic difficulties stemming from COVID-19. Schools including University of Minnesota, University of Iowa, and the College of William and Mary have decided to end their programs, and unfortunately more may follow.

The world was watching as six U.S. gymnasts took part in a competition on Sunday, November 8th in Tokyo. The Friendship and Solidarity event implemented strict COVID-19 safety protocols that could serve as a foundation for the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games and also featured gymnasts from China, Japan, and Russia.
